About the Data

This Market Snapshot uses 2024 employer health insurance data from the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS). MEPS benchmarks are based on employer-size reporting categories and include average medical premiums, employee contributions, enrollment patterns and plan design measures.

Where MEPS employer-size categories do not align exactly with the employer-size ranges used by this tool, the closest available reporting category is used. Industry peer counts for North Carolina are derived from available Form 5500 filing data and are shown only when the peer population is large enough to provide a meaningful comparison. Industry-specific medical cost statistics are shown only when at least 15 usable medical-premium observations are available.

No individual employer information is displayed in the Market Snapshot.

Benchmark information is intended for educational and planning purposes and does not represent actuarial advice, carrier pricing, underwriting results or guaranteed savings.
